Semhar Mekonen graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Petersburg College before attending the University of South Florida to obtain her Master of Nursing. She is also certified with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and has completed 180 clinical hours at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital’s Emergency Medicine department.

Ms. Mekonen is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and received the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Patient Care as a nurse. She actively takes on leadership roles as a Chair Member on the Pediatric Medicine Practice Council as well as the Pediatric Medicine Education Council.

Ms. Mekonen enjoys medical mission work and has had the opportunity of servicing communities in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
